Huguette Martel new book

Huguette Martel has been a painter and a writer. Her specialty has been a series of paintings for which she then writes a story and puts it all together. Often her paintings have a one or two sentence story at the bottom. Her first sale was to the New Yorker where she published the sort of panel stories that have become so popular today, thirty years later!

Here is the link to her book which I published for her on Blurb.com. It is in French but the English version is coming soon. You can scroll through the whole book. It might look like a children's book but it isn't; perhaps it's a book for us adults in our second childhood!

CAMPEONATO DE FUTBOLÍN FEMENINO en OTRASCOSAS

El miércoles 13 de Julio, en Otrascosas de VILLARROSÀS: CAMPEONATO DE FUTBOLÍN SÓLO PARA CHICAS. El campeonato se jugará por parejas. Puedes enviar un mail a otrascosas@villarrosas.com con los nombres que formarán la pareja antes del 13 de Julio, o venir directamente con tu pareja el mismo día. Incluso puedes venir sola y buscar a alguien que esté en tu misma situación. Aunque lo más recomendable es la primera opción.
-El número máximo de parejas para este torneo es de 32. De esta forma se jugarán 5 rondas: primera ronda, segunda ronda, cuartos de final, semifinales y final.

-Cada partido se jugará al mejor de 9 goles, es decir, el primero que llegue a 5. Eso sí, esta norma puede cambiar en función del número de parejas.

-Las campeonas y subcampeonas recibirán un trofeo y un premio por cortesía de RS Barceona y Estrella Damm.

-Y lo más importante, es un campeonato especialmente para chicas. Los chicos podéis venir a animar o estudiar el *.

-*Posible combinación de parejas por orden de preferencia:

1. Chica + chica

2. Chico + chica

3. Chico disfrazado de chica + chico disfrazado de chica

McCabe's in Santa Monica, California

McCabe's is a musical instrument store in Santa Monica, California, opened in 1958. Specializes in acoustic and folk instruments: guitars, banjos, mandolins, dulcimers (both hammered and plucked), fiddles, psaltries, bouzoukis, sitars, ouds, ethnic percussion ... electrics and amps. McCabe's sell, fix and teach, and has all the stuff that anyone would need to go with, including thousands of books and recordings. It's a nice, comfortable place to visit and try things out. And every weekend, they have a great bunch of shows... As an example last Friday & Saturday they've had JOHN DOE & JILL SOBULE plus special guests SEAN WHEELER & ZANDER SCHLOSS made a performance on the guitar shop. Doe and Sobule are each well known as solo performers, but they have collaborated on a remarkable new project called A Day At The Pass, and are touring together in support of it. Recorded in a single day, and featuring guest stars we're not allowed to mention, the album brings together Doe and Sobule's singing and songwriting talents to create a whole that is even greater than the sum of its considerable parts. Opening each evening will be another interesting duo. Based on the resumes of vocalist Sean Wheeler (Throw Rag) and multi-instrumentalist Zander Schloss (Circle Jerks, Weirdos, Joe Strummer), you might expect a raucous sound, but this twosome plays a hybrid of folk, country, pop, ragtime, bluegrass, and gospel that includes all the frenzied energy and spirit of the duo's aforementioned bands, executed with a soulful dash of Americana charm not often heard west of the Mississippi.

COOKBOOKS. Inventari provisional 1999-2011

L’exposició de Carlos Pazos al Museu de l’Empordà mostra els quaderns, inèdits fins avui excepte algunes poques pàgines publicades en un llibre, i que presenten dues constants de les seves creacions:  l’autorretrat; la música rock i el que Carlos Pazos considera gairebé un mestre, Elvis Presley; Mickey Mousse; Cotlliure; trossos de carn; sabates femenines; cors; dentadures; elefants; pollastres; porcs; rèptils; referències al món de l’art... i una sexualitat que és omnipresent, crua i alhora exuberant amb imatges que sovint ratllen la pornografia. Aquestes obsessions personals, són presentades mitjançant un humor intel·ligent i provocador que fa gala de la ironia, els jocs de paraules i les metàfores..

LA CANTANTE LADY GAGA VISTE DE LYDIA DELGADO EN UNA PRODUCCIÓN PARA ROLLING STONE USA

§  Se trata de un vestido color champagne de inspiración romántica y juego de transparencias, perteneciente a la colección Primavera-Verano 2011

§  Nicola Formichetti, estilista de la cantante, seleccionó el modelo

Madrid, 28 de junio de 2011.- La diseñadora Lydia Delgado ha participado en el número de julio de la revista Rolling Stone en su edición USA, concretamente en una producción con la inigualable artista Lady Gaga, firmada por el fotógrafo Ryan McGinley (www.rollingstone.com/music/photos/exclusive-photos-lady-gagas-rolling-stone-photo-shoot-20110524/0659358)

El estilista de la cantante, Nicola Fornichetti (Director Creativo de Mugler y Director de Moda en Vogue Hommes Japan y Uniqlo), que seguía desde hace tiempo la trayectoria de Lydia Delgado a través de varios sites sobre tendencias, se puso en contacto con la marca para seleccionar varios looks para este reportaje.  

Finalmente el vestido elegido, que corresponde a la colección Primavera-Verano 2011, se caracteriza por su corte romántico y su juego de transparencias. Gasa y raso son los materiales predominantes de este vestido delicado y vaporoso, con el que Lady Gaga posa en un jardín verde, bucólico y por lo que se intuye en la foto, secreto y melancólico.
